FAO is pleased to extend an invitation to join the Workshop on Resilience and Sustainability in Tropical Fruit Value Chains, to be held at the FAO Headquarters in Rome, Italy, on Wednesday, 15 May and Thursday, 16 May 2024.

This workshop is being organized as a component of the project “Building responsible global value chains for the sustainable production and trade of tropical fruits”. The project promotes resilient and sustainable production and trade of tropical fruits, with a focus on avocado and pineapple value chains.

The workshop will bring together a wide range of stakeholders engaged in the tropical fruit sector, providing a unique opportunity to strengthen collaboration around challenges faced by these value chains and supporting the industry to become more efficient, inclusive, resilient and sustainable.wDuring the Workshop, various topics will be addressed, including economic, environmental and social sustainability; adaptation to and mitigation of climate change; responsible business conduct; due diligence; deforestation; sustainable production systems; distribution of value in the supply chain; labour rights; and gender equity. It is also a critical step for FAO to gather insights and identify priorities in preparation for follow-up actions.
